UGC flags 32 fake universities; warns students against unauthorised EdTech tie-ups and invalid degrees

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has identified 32 fake universities across India and cautioned students against enrolling in unauthorised institutions or EdTech programmes operating through illegal franchise arrangements. The government has advised aspirants to verify a university’s recognition status through the UGC website before admission, warning that degrees from such institutions are not legally recognised.
