From writing code to growing mushrooms: How this BTech graduate left IT after 14 years to build a farming business earning over Rs 10 lakh a month

After 14 years in the IT industry, BTech graduate Vikramdev Mohapatra left his corporate career to return to Nabarangpur, Odisha, and build a commercial mushroom farming business. His venture, Ganga Bhumi Mushrooms, produces 500–600 kg of mushrooms daily and supplies markets in Brahmapur and Bhubaneswar. With monthly revenue reportedly reaching Rs 16–19 lakh, the enterprise earns over Rs 10 lakh after expenses and employs 24 people, including 18 women, showcasing rural entrepreneurship and job creation.
