Volunteers removed 100,000 sea urchins in Norway; kelp and fish nurseries return

Nearly 100,000 sea urchins have been removed from three northern Norway sites by almost 500 volunteers since 2024. The effort has helped kelp and seaweeds return to previously barren seabeds, creating nursery habitat for fish and supporting marine biodiversity. Continued monitoring aims to ensure the underwater forests can recover and persist.
