‘No feedom of conscience’: Chhattisgarh High Court says students cannot be forced to recite Hindu prayers in schools

The Chhattisgarh High Court has said that no student can be compelled to recite Hindu prayers in government schools while hearing a plea against a State government circular introducing prayers such as Saraswati Vandana and Gayatri Mantra. After the State said the circular had not yet been implemented, the Court disposed of the petition but allowed the petitioners to return if any child is forced to participate in the prayers.
