IIT resume advisory sparks debate over removing JEE and GATE ranks from CVs

A reportedly circulated advisory from an IIT Career Development Centre, said to be based on All IIT Placement Committee guidelines, has sparked debate after asking students to remove JEE and GATE ranks, scores and percentiles from resumes. Supporters say the move promotes skill-based hiring and resume uniformity, while critics argue it suppresses hard-earned achievements. The issue gained traction on social media, where users remain divided over whether placements should prioritize entrance exam performance or college accomplishments.
